Most dogs bark at strangers. It's normal behavior. It takes consistent training to get a dog to change. Yelling or physical punishment often cause the dog to think it was correct in its assessment of the danger/excitement response to a stranger. Stranger should be told to stay out of the dog's space, too, as some dogs are kind of shy and respond to overly friendly humans with aggression.
The best way to deal with this behavior is to try getting your dog to understand that this is a positive situation, i.e. if a stranger comes to house (invited by you), try tossing some kibble for the dog or some kind of food treats. I have used this method and that dog caught on quick.

I think it's a dog's nature to be territorial, that's why. Moreover, dogs usually bark at things/beings that intimidate them...including strangers.

Your dog is defending it's territory. By barking it intends to ward off the intruder.

He just wants to show you he is worth all those treats you give him, by chasing strangers away.
