Salam Alaykum.
What exaclty would you define as a kafir?
For example, what of these:
A Mulsim who does no good deeds, prayers or fasts,
Different sects within Islam such as Shia, Sunni, Khajarite, etc.,
Break off Religions from Islam such as Bah'ai, Druze, etc.,
Christians and Jews,
Religious Zoroastrians, Hindus, Animists, etc.,
A person who believes in Islam, but never takes Shahada,
A person who is in no way religious, but does good deeds.
Also, are Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses considered to be Ahl al-Kitab

the word kair means "one who rejets faith".
the faith has to be presented to them and they have to refuse it to be entitled to that term.
It does not apply to a Muslim who does no good deeds, prayers fasts. In this case, its a sinful Muslim.
It does not apply to different sects within Islam such as Shia, Sunni, Khajarite, etc.,
It DOES apply to break off religions from Islam such as Bah'ai, Druze, etc.,
It does NOT apply to Christians and Jews,
It DOES apply to religious Zoroastrians, Hindus, Animists, etc., provided the faith has been presented to them and they refuse it.
There is no such thing as a person who believes in Islam, but has never taken the Shahada. he's not a Muslim to begin with.
It differs in case of aperson who is in no way religious, but does good deeds. In this case, if Islam is presented to him and he refuses, he earns that title too.
Yes Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses are considered to be Ahl al-Kitab
For your infromation, a Muslim is not allowed to label anyone a kafir for no one knows what is in the other person's heart except Allah.
hope this answer helps.

Wa alaykum salaam
me personally, i would define Kafir - as a non believer, someone who does not believe in God. God as defined by the major prophets, David, Isa, Moses, etc. So basically to me, anyone who is a 'shirk'- associates partners with God, and who does not believe in the Prophets sent by God.
I dont know how someone can believe in Islam and not take the shahadah - cos Islam is a way of life - and the shahadah is the affirmation for what you believe.
A muslim who does no good - well, muslim or not - each person will be accountable for his deeds, so he will be judged accordingly.
Hope this helps, well its my opinion, at least.
Salaam

To be honest with you, your question struck me!! I never tire mysef to categorise or label people especially when it comes to faith because faith is in the heart and no one really knows hearts other than Allah. It is not my business to decide who is kafir, muslim, true muslim or whatever; who is going to hell or heaven, this is the business of Allah. My role in life is much simpler; do good on this planet as defined in Quran and Sunnah.
So, I cannot answer your question, but definitely not the first 4 options. And option 6 is not valid, Shahada is the core of Isam. You cannot be a Muslim and not take it.
Ahl Al-Kitab are believers in holy books; Jews, Christians and Muslims.
Why are you interested in finding out anyway? Leave it to Allah. Peace be upon us all.

Simply, a Kafir is a person who never takes Shahada. This means that if you take Shahada, you will declare your trust in God and Mohammad the prophet even you don't practice the Islam duties. (Shahada = Muslim)

sturdy question. They deny through fact they don't understand the data. lots of the subscribers indexed below are drawn to 2 factors from Yahoo somewhat of attempting to discover the certainty. regrettably Muslim media remains non-existant or not so lively to sell the data approximately Quran or different Muslim activities. Islam remains a mystry for different faiths. What you already know and bear in mind "the shown scientific miracles of Quran" has not yet reached to them for this reason you need to understand the certainty and expertise of others in the previous asking such questions. besides the undeniable fact that I agree alongside with your perspectives.

every1 except muslims r khafir because they r on the wrong path.
even the muslims that do bad deeds or dont practise islam we cant call them khafir because only Allah will judge them. The christians and the jews r called the mushriq because they believe in God but they have been influenced to go on the wrong path because the bad people have erasied the truth from their holy books from Allah, so only Allah can judge them.

A Kaafir is someone who does Kufri (disbelief). Kufri means disbelief, concealing, rejecting, covering. Not believing in God and His Messenger, whether that is accompanied by denial or it is not accompanied by denial but rather doubt, or turning away from faith out of jealousy or arrogance, or because one is following whims and desires that prevent one from following the message. So kufr is the attribute of everyone who rejects something that God has commanded us to believe in, after news of that has reached him, whether he rejects it in his heart without uttering it, or he speaks those words of rejection without believing it in his heart, or he does both; or he does an action which is described in the texts as putting one beyond the pale of faith.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A list of acts which are considerd as Kufris:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Denying or bisbelieving any basic belief of Islam.
2. Not praying at all.
3. Considering a Muslim as a kafir.
4. Describing something from Qur'an or Hadith such a way that is not found in Qur'an and Hadith.
5. Bearing a sign of other religion which is exclusive for that religion, like wearing a cross.
6. Mocking or making fun of any verse of Qur'an or Hadith.
7. Mocking, disrespecting or making fun of any prophet or messenger (Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, David (pbut)
8. Disrespecting Qur'an, putting it in nasty place.
9. Criticizing a law, or a verse from Qur'an.
10. Considering Halal as Haram, and Haram as Halal.
11. Blaming Allah in any pain or sorrow.
12. Doing a major sin and saying "I'm proud of it!"
13. Making disrespecting comments about Allah.
14. Throwing magic spell on somebody to get an evil job done.
15. Starting a major sin in the name of God, like saying "Bismillah" while drinking wine or beer.
16. Believing in Darwinism. (humans evolved from apes)
17. Thinking that "not only Muslims, people of other religions will also be able to enter Heaven if they do good deeds." This is Kufri.
18. Thinking that Islam is obsolete and not appropriate for modern times.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As you said, a Muslim who doesn't pray at all and does no good deeds. S/he is a Kafir even though s/he considers him/herself as a Muslim. BUT, no Muslim is entitled to call that Muslim as a Kafir.
A sect would be considered as a Kafir sect ONLY IF they do something which is totally contrary to Qur'an and Sunnah, and don't stop doing it, and don't repent.
Christians and Jews are Kafirs, as they disbelieve in Muhammad, and denies Islam. Same with Zoroastrians, Buddhists, Hindus, Animists, etc.
I don't get it fully, "never takes Shahada"? A Muslim is a Muslim so long s/he believes in all basic beliefs in Islam and doesn't do or say anything which is totally contrary to Islamic faith.
A person who does good deeds will get paid in worldly life from God. But not religious at all, meaning not even a Muslim? then he is a Kafir.
If you read about Jews and Christians above, you have the answer for Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses.

Bismillah
Kafir refers to anyone who does not believe and Allah and the last day...... because you cannot see someones faith and it is a matter only for Allah to judge.... it is something you should not attempt to define. Only concern yourself with your own faith and do what you believe is right by Allah.
Astagfirullah if i have said anything incorrect
