If you try to install girlfriend 2.0 after installing wife 1.0, you'll find you're wife 1.0 has automatically transmuted into ex-wife 1.0, and this leads to a loss of half or more of your assets.
Seriously though, for legal purposes (inheritance benefits, tax breaks, etc) the wife is a contractual arrangement. The g/f gets nada if you die. (Some long time g/fs of 9/11 victims found this out the hard way.)

A girlfriend gives you sex and the wife gives you love.
You give your girlfriend presents and spend money on her.
Your wife GIVES you children and spends time and money on YOU.
Your girlfriend doesnt look after you when you are sick BUT
your wife does.
Your girlfriend doesn't wash and iron your shirts. ..your wife does.
Your wife is there all the time to tend to your needs your girlfriend is only there sometimes.
Your wife helps you out financially your girlfriend borrows from you lol ok.??????
Your wife is there all the time for you and your girlfriend isn't....your girlfriend is only a part time lover whereas your wife is a full time lover.

Depends on how deep the relationship with the girlfriend is! she can be a weekend fling, a steady fling or a live in which at that point is the same as a wife
