Normally salt and spicy food for dogs is avoided, a few chips as a treat is OK but not as a meal.
Remember dogs desire high protein diet also. According to some expert Vets Ginger and Garlic is being believed to be good for them and Onion is taboo, so are fish (with their spines), chicken and mutton bones, as bones are likely to get stuck in the throat or digestive system.

My dogs get these as treats at times. Do not feed too many as salt is not good for animals nor humans, salt is on the bad food list for dogs.
Salt Iodized salt and salty foods can cause stomach ailments and pancreatitis. Some dogs, especially large breeds, have been known to gulp too much water after eating salty foods and developed a life threatening condition called bloat during which the stomach fills with gas and twists, leading to a painful death unless emergency treatment is received immediately

Just yesterday actually our dog (a one-year-old airedale-chow mix) went to the vet where they told us that human food is too salty for dogs. They should be able to get a sufficient amount of salt from their dog food which is specially formulated for them so what they get from table scraps or treats is excess. In our case it caused our dog to have a little bit of a weight problem so we're on a mission to shed 10 pounds from the little guy.
So, to directly answer your question the salt won't harm your dog as long as it isn't in excess. Potato chips aren't good for anyone so in the end giving them to your dog isn't the best option but as an occassional treat I imagine there wouldn't be any harm.

Swimming is a good idea, it provides as a good form of exercise for the dog. However, salt water is drying for the dog’s skin and coat. Furthermore, it might cause irritation to the paws and the skin. It's always advisable to wash him RIGHT AWAY after a visit to the beach, to get rid of the salt. The most important matter is to ensure that your dog does not consume any sea water, as he might develop diarrhea. Hope it helps!

Yes but as a treat like they are meant for humans. Salt is often in wet food for dogs. But just as humans need to limit the intake of salt so should your canines.
