Congratulations! :)

Figure out 1) Your budget 2) What do you want to do in general

Do you want a big wedding? Small wedding? Church wedding? Secular wedding? What kind of reception - simple or fancy? Dancing or not? Are you gonna have a honeymoon?

Just start throwing ideas out there. Once you have a general feeling of what you both want, and how much you're willing to spend, you can start looking for venues, caterers, make up a guest list, etc. You could even consult a wedding planner.

We just got married last Sat., neither of us wanted a big wedding, so we tried to get away with minimum planning, enlisting the help of friends and relatives - and had a wedding at a Renaissance faire. It came together beautifully, everyone loved it.

1. Send out "Save the date card." out about six months before the wedding date, so that everyone can save the date.
2. Budget
3. Pick the wedding party.
4 Think about the time of the day: morning, afternoon or late evening.
5. Think about is it indoors, at a park, at the beach, in the back yard of the home or out doors.
6. start shopping around and document prices, companies names and the person you spoke to.
7. Think about the food: buffet, finger food only, seated.
8. Pick the three people that will help you shopping which can be on line etc.

Congratulations!

First, have a date in mind and stick to it. Set a goal for yourself so you'll be consistently motivated to work towards that date. Consider how your life will be at that time ... work ... how much money u make .. where you'll be living.. etc. Try to give yourself at least a year. A year and a half makes things easier if you can wait that long.

Figure out who your bridal party will consist of and let them know. Get them involved and give them responsibilities from the start so you don't have to do everything on your own.

Get a good idea of the number of people you want to invite and the number of people you must invite. Out of respect, you may want to talk with your parents and tell them to give you a list of people they must invite and a list of people they would like to invite. Compile the lists and then work out approximately how many people you'll be having.

By considering timing and the number of people you want to or have to invite, you can come up with a more realistic budget.

From there, you can find out where you can have your wedding. Book a few appointments to check out restaurants/halls/churches/etc. to see what you like, who can accommodate you and for how much. Start thinking about theme possibilities too. Settle on a place and book your date ASAP!

If you have time, catch a few wedding shows ... get ideas to further develop your themes... and now you're on your way to forming your plans and putting them into action.

Good luck!

Location, location, location! Decide on a location for your big day and a time you want the ceremony to take place. Once you've got that out of the way, it makes it easier to schedule the florist, baker, caterer, etc. Take pictures of the location and take with you when you meet with the vendors, this will help them and you plan.
Cruise bridal magazines & cut out pictures of everything you like and take with you when you meet with the corinating vendor. Its a big help. Keep a binder, divided by things-flowers, cake, dresses, etc. Make notes, keep pictures in it, etc; so that you have everything together in one place.
It also helps when you go to bridal shows.
Check out theknot.com it really helped me when I got married last year. You can even create your own page for you and your fiance that all you family, friends, and guests can view.
Congrads!

Pick your color scheme/theme for the wedding. Then decide how much you are willing to spend. Make a list of both of your family and friends. Then you can decide who's coming. Once you have these, you can decide where the ceremony and reception will be held. Decorations for both of these places can come next. for a more detailed list, you should register at www.brides.com and/or www.theknot.com. They have checklists and budget lists to help with the planning.
