I've been looking for another job myself. Where did you say this place was? Ha. Just kidding.
Lots of people probably applied for that job. The fact that you were able to interview with the GM shows that you are in the top running for the job. If your outgoing, goal-oriented personality showed through to the interviewers, then you'll probably get the job.
If you don't get the job, don't worry. There will be others. I've been on at least 8 or 9 interviews and no callbacks yet, so I move onto the next interview.
Wait 5-6 days after your interview. Then call the person that set the interview up (the human resources manager?), and ask them this, "Hello (HR mgr). This is Lilly. I interviewed for the Admin Assistant position back on (date of interview). And I hadn't heard from your company yet, so I'm just calling to find out if the GM has made a decision about the Admin Assistant position."
Don't sound anxious, be professional, and thank the HR mgr for their time.
Good luck, I bet you get the job!

You can only assume that they have several candidates for the job and they will hire the most qualified person, but dont give up. I interviewed for a new job 3 weeks ago and just today. They called and offerred me the job. Good luck

Odds are you good you have the job. When it gets to that level an offer is made. This may depend on a background check, drug test, and credit check.
If in a week you get nothing, call back and keep in touch.

hi lilly,
Dont want to say yes dont want to say no,sounds like you peaked their curiosity, but they are still looking around,if I were you I would keep looking, something will happen i'm sure, but dont put all your eggs in one basket, besides whenever I looked for a job it would be no answer and then I'd get a flood of oppurtunitys, then a new problem of which one to choose...good luck

ALL job searches are a competition; it's normal to be nervous about it. Remember also that even if you don't get this one there will always be another.
