Generally 5hrs from NY to LA. If you leave at 4am in NY it would be 6am in LA when you land because you cross 3 time zones.
So arrival time is 9am NY time but 6am LA time

I've flown from NY to LA many times. Depending on head wind, it is usually a 6 hours flight, non-stop. So if you left at 4 PM NY time, you would arrive in LA at 10 PM NY time or 7 PM LA time with the 3 hour time difference.

straight flight should be 5 hours, best accurate answer should be to get a ticket thru expedia or travelocity, it will give u the best time....of arrival....
