FROM WIKIPEDIA:
In science, a theory is a proposed description, explanation, or model of the manner of interaction of a set of natural phenomena, capable of predicting future occurrences or observations of the same kind, and capable of being tested through experiment or otherwise falsified through empirical observation. It follows from this that for scientists "theory" and "fact" do not necessarily stand in opposition. For example, it is a fact that an apple dropped on earth has been observed to fall towards the center of the planet, and the theory which explains why the apple behaves so is the current theory of gravitation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There have been numerous attempts to explain to the creationists and intelligent design folks that theory in science is not the same as religious faith. Per scientific standards religious faith doesn't even qualify as a theory. There is no way to test it and no basis for even calling it a theory. They aren't even in the same ballpark. It's ludicrous to compare them.
Having said that, scientists have not ever set out to disprove the existence of God by any means. Any self-respecting scientist would find the idea outlandish. They pursue the study of evolution because of the existence of empirical evidence. A properly educated and open mind finds it easy to conceive of a God who may have used evolution as part of its plan. Just because the human beings who wrote the bible couldn't conceive of the concept of billions of years doesn't mean anything to the scientific mind. Why is this so hard to understand? It isn't some plot hatched by a cartoon-like mad scientist to rid the world of religious faith - it's highly educated people studying evidence we can see, study and touch.
Sigh...it's like talking to a brick wall, this I know already. But it's late and I'm bored lol.
Evolution has his little here and there, so its called a theory, but is the best we have, and the only one to both explain all observable facts and accurately predict future evolutions (in other sense) of the system. Creationist theories fail at the later, so, if you dont believe in evolutionbecause it is a theory, then LESS you should believe increationism. What you should do is to STUDY evolution and find a way to improve it by adding god tho the next theorethical mosel ;)
Cheers!
No. Since evolution is based on science, God was never a part of it. The entire scope of evolution has nothing that deals with the existence of God.
I think we can consider evolution without ever considering God. Evolution could be the tool of God or it could mean we didn't need a God. So, the evidence can be examined without the need to involve the debate over the existence of God.
fred,
A cowboy come riding along and he said, "No. First place, there is no such a thing as God." And he give me his theory of it (You know.), about how the moon and stars come together, and the sun, the "Ethics of Darwin," and how that the evolution started. And all these little polliwogs that begin to lose their tails, and they got legs and they begin to walk, and I said, "Well, what ever happened if some of them become men, what happened to the polliwog then? There wouldn't be any more polliwogs." So, I said, "I want to ask you something. Will you believe and admit to me now, that this Baby, Jesus, had a mother. We know that, according to the writings. We seen according to the Bible. Now, He had a mother. But it's absolutely, unscientific to say that He could be born without she had contact with an earthly man?"
He said, "That's exactly right." I said, "I want to ask you something then. How did the first man get here without father or mother?" Let it be tadpole, or monkey, whatever you want it to be?" According to your statement, he had to have a father and a mother."
I was speaking on that just recently on a sermon of, "Hybrid Religion." And science in working in the field of science, those who claim evolution has taken their own scientific proof and disproved their own theory of evolution, because anything that is hybrid cannot breed itself back again. Therefore, if He made a certain seed, it has to remain that. If you cross it up with something else, it cannot breed itself back. That ends it as soon as you breed it.
A mule can never produce another mule, and don't nobody ever lay it onto God of making a mule. He never done it. That's what man done. It reminds me right smart today of the nature when you hybreed anything, you spoil its nature.
The Theory of Evolution has nothing to do with God or religion.
If there was evidence that "God did it," the Theory of Evolution would be modified to include that as a factor.
There is no evidence to support God belief, so why would scientists insert it as a factor?
no. charles darwin who "came up" with evolution, actually didn't. his father (grandfather?) already had evolution theories, and darwin, being a religious man, thought these evolution theories were hogwash. it was only until he studied the natural world and found evidence for evolution that he began to see things differently.
No it IS NOT!!!!! Is your faith in God so WEAK that you can not accept facts and readjust your belief in God to match reality? Do facts shake you up soooo much that you can not believe in God? Why do I have no problem accepting the evidence of evolution and having faith in God?
Yes, an intelligent sounding one. if people can have something to discredit the beginning of creation, then they can get people to be blinded to the rest of the Bible. You'll know if your blind, because the Bible will look like nonsense to you. Thats why the bible talks about opening your eyes, and seeking the truth. If your eyes are opened, then the Bible makes so much sense, and it does not contradict itself, but blind people contradict it.
Oh, and the Catholic church held itself over God, and gave itself authority to change the commandments. So I wouldn't believe anything coming out of Rome. Pope John obviously doesn;t care what the bible says, or he wouldn't believe in evolution. Study prophecy.
