what do you call it when the hair is a different color underneath than the rest of the head? sometimes darker than or lighter than depending on the natural color.

Well that is just your hair growing out.. but if you were to get your hair dyed like that it would be called 2 tone hair color i have it.. My hair is blond on top and black underneath...<33 god bless

it depends on if your talking about all virgin hair or if its been colored. if you colored it this way its called the amazon look but if its colored and different at the scalp only this is root rot as we like to call it be sure to touch up with same color used last time or you may get rainbow effect

it depends... it is called the peek -a- boo.. when you have one color over most of your head and at your nape you do it a different color... if that is what you are asking. otherwise if it is where you colored and it is growing in and you are two different colors, it is re-growth

if it gradually gets darker or lighter we call it a shading at the salon i work at. if its half and half there really isn't a name for it
