Not a good idea to sit and wait. Call the animal shelter to see if she has been picked up and put in a lost report so they know where to find you if she does get turned in. Put an add in the paper and read the found adds too. Start looking right away, post lost signs around neighborhood and old neighborhood too. When you do find her think about getting her a chip. Please call animal shelter. Good luck

Other than leaving food outside for the cat and hoping she comes back.

We once had a cat get outside and looked for weeks. We assumed the worse and got on with life. About 18 months later she shows up at the front door screaming at 4 in the morning, with a litter of kittens.

She never ran away after that.

Assuming this just happened, cats like to go out and prowl and hunt especially at night. I have one that used to push out the screen door. Every morning he'd come back with treats for us-a baby cottonmouth once. In the morning try checking around and calling for him. If it's been awhile, keep checking with the pounds, neighbors, flyers, put an ad in the paper.

If it was less than a week, the cat may have tried to find its way to the old home. If it was a week or more, go around the neighborhood and call her name over and over. I know it sounds obnoxious, but the cat may be lost and scared and in hiding. They usually don't go very far away and if it hears your voice it will come to you. Ask your neighbors if it has seen a cat that fits the description. Good luck.

Try looking around your old neighborhood. Cats are Territorial. They usually always find there way home. Your old home would be what she/he considers home. Put up flyer's etc..
But how the heck did your cat get out of a second floor window and survive the fall?

How far away did you live before? Cats are extremely territorial. Many of them will try to find their way home.

When she comes back, and she will...

Toss her against the wall of your new home. HARD. She will never leave again.

(My mom said that is how he dad handled that prob in her youth. Me... I wouldn't try it with Lilith... she comes and goes as she pleases... and she will scratch at the door in the middle of the night for us to let her in.)

Leave the window open. I guarantee you she will find her way back!

My cat-boy does it all the time.

Have fun but be safe!
