for long periods of time, when I'm very busy I can't help it, but I know he is very bored and I feel guilty, I have to leave the house, if I give him to my mom, I think he'll really miss me, how difficult is it for pups to get used to a new owner, (I'll miss him dearly, but schedule won't allow me to keep him) I'll cry, but no choice

I give this pup the most attention & love a dog can get, my business has changed and have to be there more than full time, not something I planned. I don't want the pup to feel lonely, I guess he is sensitive and very needy only 5 mos., but he is spoiled. And I have a problem with guilt!! Just so you know!!

If you are looking for ways to make life with your puppy work if you have a busy schedule, consider taking him to a well run doggie daycare or hiring a dog walker to come and take him out during your work day. My sister used to bring her dog there during the workday, but now has my dad dog-sit for her. There are people who work fulltime jobs and have puppies, but you do need to make sure you are commited to making sure they don’t miss out on exercise and mental stimulation that healthy dogs need.

As for how fast a dog can adjust to a new owner…it depends. Some younger puppies just love everyone, but it can be much harder for an older dog or sensitive puppy. It might be easier on him if he has already been around your mom too. It can be extremely hard on puppies that have been rehomed multiple times though so if you give her to your mom make sure she is committed to caring for him.

Its not wrong as long as he has toys, water etc. But if you plan for him to be an outside dog later, the earlier you get him used to that the better. If you're thinking of passing him on to someone else, the sooner the better and it should only take a few days for him to get used to someone else. Dogs from shelters dont take long to get used to new places, especially when treated better than they were before. If he goes to a family or someone that has time to spend with him it wont take long at all. Be harder for you than him!

Why don't you put your puppy in doggie day care while you are at work? It would be good for the puppy and you. You would stop feeling guilty, because he would no longer be alone all day. Your puppy would be taken care of and wouldn't be lonely. Then on your days off your puppy and you could spend some quality time together.

You could always go to your mothers place if she lives near by that way you can see her and the pup too on weekends and the pup won't be neglected.

have your dog hang out with your mom and he will get to know her and won't miss you. if you keep your dog inside, it isnt bad because if u let him stay, it will be potty trained and won't go in the house. but if you leave it at home, remember to leave it lots of food, toys, and water.

Why did you buy a puppy when you know you don’t even have time to spend with it? Puppies need a lot of time and attention! They need to bond with somebody. Your mind tells you that your puppy is missing you but in reality your puppy doesn’t miss you. Your puppy is having to bond with your mother because you do not have time to spend time with it as you should be as a dog owner.
