No it doesn't. Every virus we get we most likely picked up by touching something someone with a virus or bug had breathed on or touched. Cold air has nothing to do with it.
I live in a fairly cold area in the winter I am healthier than I am in the hot summer months. Your immune system is the big factor in how, when and how often you get sick. There are a lot of things that build your immune system, Green tea w/ honey & Oranges are just 2 :o) Stay healthy

No. In fact, it was the cold of the Arctic that kept so many bad diseases from the Americas before Columbus. Cold kills germs (or at least hinders their spread).
The reason that flu and other maladies occur in cold months is that whimps turn up the heat inside where the germs incubate. Then these same people take their germs and get them all over the shopping cart handles at the supermarket, for the next person to contract. People should be leaving their houses cool in autumn and winter and just wearing a bit more clothes than other seasons. Too, they need to spend more time outside, so any germs they have will bite the dust.

Colds are caused by a strain of viruses. Viruses are created only by attaching themselves to a host cell and injecting their RNA which causes the cell to make more viruses. Viruses don't care (they aren't living) let alone care about the temperature.

Germs is just a slang term for viruses and bacteria.

Wind and rain might kick up bacteria and fungus (the reason you can "smell rain") that can cause cold like symptoms such as a runny nose.

Cold weather does not cause the cold virus...It's a virus, it's called a cold because it thrives in the cool weather. I've heard this explanation from my kids pediatrician all the time. Parents are afraid of kids catching a cold virus if they leave the house without a sweater or go out when their hair is wet...its just a myth. You get sick with a cold virus by being in contact with a person with a cold virus..i.e. you drink from their cup or touch something they touched and then eat with out washing your hands.

Have you never heard of malaria or Yellow Fever?

"Colds" are not caught outdoors in the cold, they are caught indoors where people gather to keep warm. Hypothermia can reduce your body's ability to fight off infections, viral or bacterial, but that's about as far as the relationship between cold weather and disease can be pushed.

The major reason that we refrigerate foods is that bacteria growth is slowed to near zero below 40 deg F

It seems to lower the immunity so existing microbes take over.

I have read of many famous people in history that were out in cold wet weather, then die a few days later, like George Washington for example.

Just another theory, but people spend more time indoors in cold weather, which brings them closer to others and leads to greater exposure to germs than in warm weather.

cold weather does not cause colds, contrary to popular believe, but wet hair in the cold weather, which prevents evaporation of water in the hair, could attract more bacteria
