How is it humanly possible to abide by a code of conduct which encompasses dozens of specializations? It's not even enough to be a lawyer anymore, you have to be a certain KIND of lawyer!
Is law anything more than a game, whose object is to leaf through its multi-thousand volume rule-book, then play a rule hoping it trumps the other guy's rule, like a card trick?

A thousand VOLUMES (prolly more), not a thousand PAGES. A thousand pages is Lord of the Rings!

"It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is to-day, can guess what it will be to-morrow. Law is defined to be a rule of action; but how can that be a rule, which is little known, and less fixed? "

Thats why he is doing the talking mate & not you !!!!
I know what you mean it is hard for the layman to understand but legal speak is written in such a way that it cant be undone. However we know it has come unstuck in many a case.... so genrally they change the statuate(law) by revising or revisiting the whole issue... so it wont happen again. Just out of interest most of this stuff was written so long ago it is no longer pertinent anyway. While the world has moved on many of our traditional ways of equity have not.

Different lawyers interpret the same law differently. The courts give rulings of the law after hearing their interpretations. But ignorance of law or misinterpretation of law is not an excuse for an ordinary citizen.

very good point.
I guess the larger the society, the more complex the schematic becomes. Maybe it's a good argument for villages and such.

Now you know what those that protect america have to deal with when interpreting interrogation laws that are vague and unknowable, and let liberals scream "torture."
