Cut out soft drinks, even diet ones because the sodium will make you retain water. Drink plenty of water. Carbs are starches like rice, and potatoes. Those are the ones to avoid. Colorful veggies are what you want, carrots, broccoli, sweet potatoes are ok if you don't add sugar and stuff...
Calories are energy. When you eat, the food you eat contains calories, if you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight. The best way to lose weight is to eat 5-6 SMALL meals/day. Don't wait until you're hungry and don't eyeball portions. Measure them and you'll be surprised at how much more you're eating than is recommended...
If you avoid alcohol, caffeine, chips, candy, sugary drinks, you'll do fine. But do not starve yourself.....your body will think you are starving and will retain the stored fat.
As for exercise, I love the elliptical trainer at the gym. It takes a while to build up the stamina, but after a while it gets addicting.
**I am not a personal trainer, doctor, nutritionist or anything. But I have lost 50 lbs. in 7 months, so some of the above should work for you. The key is to burn more calories than you take in without making your body think it's starving...
Good luck!

You need carbs for energy so don't cut them out completely. Do make sure they are whole grain wheat. Eat more protein in the sense of lean meats and fish. Cut out the junk food and sodas. You can have 1 or 2 diet soads a day but drink more water.
So everyone knows how to lose weight.... Its the same eat less food but make sure its healthy. Exercise more.
Break up your cardio. Do a warm up of cardio for 15 minutes. Then do some weight training. Go back and do 5 minutes of cardio, weight training, cardio. You get the point. This way you are breaking things up but keeping your heart rate up at the same time. You may even want to through in a yoga class each week. It's a lot more of a workout than you would think, plus it stretches your body out. You feel great afterwards.

Calories and carbs are energy that your body needs.
Diet is extremely important. To slim your body you must:
Burn more calories than you eat.
Cut your fat intake.
Eat three cups of fat free low cal yogurt a day (make sure it has live cultures in it) and pineapples. This helps you break down your food.
Do 45-60 min. of aerobic exercise a day (preferably before you eat in the morning). This will attack the fat.
Do 30 min of weight training three times a week. This will build lean muscle which will in turn burn fat.
I lost 40 lbs in two months and have kept it off for two more months doing this. I also took my body fat % from 30% to 14%
Be Blessed

Honestly, join Weight Watchers,. They give all the info you need, it is easy and fun to follow. You can choose what you want to eat, but they recommend a healthy eating guide. You have flex points that you can still use to splurge. I love the meetings. You get motivation and support.
