A reporter once caught George H.W. Bush in a lie in a debate and he confronted the president's press secretary. The press secretary replied you can say anything in a debate. Eight million people will hear you. If some reporter contradicts you, how many people will read it? Twenty? Two hundred? Twenty thousand?

Why do they vote for liars and womanizers?
Usually to lazy to know candidates, it is easier to vote party line.
A local elections elected a registered Communist Party member
who was a registered democrat. He campaigned on be communist but no one listened until he was a County Commissioner & laughed at everyone. Still we vote party lines.
I have never voted a straight party line.
