Seriously, that is damn rude to do that especially since I try to go to bed so I can work the next morning.
Tonight some telemarketer called me and he sounded like he was from india. I told him I had to go to bed now to wake up at 5 AM. Since he woke me up I can't sleep. What the hell were they thinking calling people so late?

well the real truth of the matter is I make cold calls for a loan company and have did it for 3 yrs. legally we have all have certain guidelines to follow. Quote: it is against the law to cold call before 10:00am and after 9:00am.. also I do recommend you register on the free national do not call registry online select 3 to 5 numbers to add with your email address. and after a few weeks it takes affect. u can log on the registry to make reports and the company will get fine $10,000. if the same company' CONTINUES . you can get compensated for the harassment and mental, financial damages it causes you and family. good luck

I know it sounds weird but alot of times they call from a different time zone. When they call lets say they were in london then it could be mid-day for them. Even in the states they could be a couple hours before you so it could be 7pm there. There is alot of factors usually they dont try to be an inconvienience but they still are. Just tell them your not interested and do not call back. Like most of the other posts in this thread you can also put everyone on the national do not call list. I hope I helped some.

There is a privacy code that telemarketers have to stick to, and I think 9pm was the latest they were allowed to call. But if you get a call tell them that you want to be taken off their list, or they'll call back in a few days. You always have the right to make a complaint though.

Telemarketers used to bother me too. I just politely say NO - I dont even let them finish their sentence- and hang up.

Its difficult and annoying when you are sitting down to supper and they call but these are small trivialities of life - at least we can be grateful that we have a phone and that we can hear.

They call late because they know people are probably home at that hour. They used to call during the dinner hour. Try to calm down. Try drinking warm milk. It actually helps. Just try to think of something calm and go to sleep. If that doesn't work, get up and write down what your mad about. Maybe if you get it out you'll calm down and be able to sleep. Good night.

You seemed to have answered your own question (I'm convinced too)... but, maybe time difference? Outsourcing seems to be the thing these days.
