For those of you who don't get it (CJ), I am talking about children born to those who are illegally here. Stop making their children legal and they may be less likely to come here. I am 4th generation American on my dad's side.

Yes it Pisses me off!! and it should be changed or eliminated. to the very least at least 1 parent MUST be a US citizen. and no government benefits if parents are not citizens or if they come here legally and are resident alliens then maybe citizenship for there children after 5 years or so. and no government benifits either for 5 years.

Yes, it does bother me. We are talking about an ammendment that was creatd before illegal immigrant was the mass histeria that it is today. The United States is fighting a battle that is not ours in Iraq when they can't control the manipulation of illegals on their own soil. Illegal immigration is causing a lot of strain on many people.
Overcrowding is a problem, health care is a problem, and many of them refuse to speak English. There are now places of employment that are requiring employees to speak Spanish. That should be against the law. If they want to come here, they should learn the language. Many of them have no desire to learn. Yet, American citizens are being required to make accomodations for them! That is not fair. Send them back.
I know of many Islanders that have to wait for years to come to America. West Indians are questioned, taken into custody by INS and sent back. What makes the Mexicans any different? Send them Back.
If the United States really cared to control illegal immigration by Mexicans, they would have done it already.

No, it doesn't because if you are born here you are a citizen. If you are against illegals, what do their children who ARE NOT illegal immigrants have to do with anything?
By the phrasing of your question it sounds more like you are anti- first- generation- American.
If you don't think the parents should be allowed to hide behind their children's citizenship then ask that question. It is a valid question.

Apparently you didn't read my 3rd paragraph. I was trying to get you to clarify your position. Let me get this straight. You would deny someone citizenship even though the constitution says they are a citizen because they were BORN HERE? That is a slippery slope my friend. If you thought your idea through to the end, then most of the people in this county would have their citizenship brought into question.

Glenn Beck on CNN just said in Los Angeles for the month of January this yr the cost to support illegals was $24,000,000 adding to our out of sight debt. I can see the slavery issue being rectified and refugees coming to the USA because of bad govt but when it's become thought of as almost a 'right' to invade another country to usurp it's resources, the homeland better get the ball of reform rolling.

Think of the immigrants who are legal -- they come from rich countries.
The immigrants who are "illegal" come from less fortunate countries.
It is all politics.
Just bc there is a law in place does not make something right.

Fairydust, did you immigrate here or were you born here.? If you were born here then you haven't a leg to stand on. You didn't do all the things you are asking others to do..
Fairydust, US immigration laws are so outdated that it makes it almost impossible to immigrate legally from certain countries. For example in the US you can immigrate from Cuba and once you land you get your papers and social security. We are still trying to show the communists we are a such a free and democratic country that we would wipe their asses if they asked. Yet if say you tried to come from Haiti you would get stuck in a 5+ year quagmire of redtape to get in. The same goes for Mexico....Cubans we kiss *** for but any other country you wait upto 10 years.
