His best bet, since he doesn't want to go back to rehab is; Narcotics Anonymous. Every town/city area should have a program such as this and is usually free. And any friend (you and who ever can be there for him) the more the better should be there to help him through this, in the ups and downs. It is NOT going to be easy. This is a very strong craving addiction and it will be tough and needs all the support he can get. And if he does need to get back into rehab, insurance (some) can help to cover the costs or set up payment plans. He is VERY lucky to have a friend like you. Be strong for him and check out what programs they have in your local area for Narcotic Addictions.

If he really went to rehab, then he was probably given the tools he needs to handle his recovery outside of the rehab facility, & he also probably knows how to get himself out of a relapse if he really wants to.
The thing is it sounds like he hasn't been "Working" his recovery programme by regularly going to AA or NarcAnon meetings.

I don't know how a methadone clinic would help a pill addict unless they have recovery councellors there for him, & he's in denial if he thinks an ordinary church service is going to bring him back out of a relapse.

By working some kind of addiction specific programme like AA or NarcAnon, or something like that, he can call a sponsor, or addiction councellor when he's at risk of a relapse.

If he didn't want to have to pay for another round in rehab, then he could have taken it more seriously when he was there the 1st time. He may be scared, but he's not scared enough I'm afraid.

Addiction to prescription pills is very difficult to kick as it's more socially acceptable. Still, opiates are opiates and the addiction and withdrawal process for heroin and oxycontin are the same.

He needs constant ongoing support for at least a year or more. I would recommend he attend a recovery group specific to those who abused prescription meds if possible, plus attend counseling, plus a stay in rehab, plus follow up drug tests.

However, if he doesn't want to quit, no one can make him. It's something he has to decide to do himself.

Hoey if he is truely wanting to get off of it, and is willing to go to church, The Lord will help him get away from it. But he has to be sincere. God bless. Hope he is really sincere about getting off the stuff.

I have heard that some people with addictions have had a lot of luck with hypnotherapy. I honestly think that if he wants to quit, he can.

That all depends on how much he really want it to work. You can not beat an addiction if you do not really want to do it.
