I was born Baptist and am going through RCIA to become Catholic, so far in the "actual" teachings of the Bible and Jesus and God are exactly the same. All that is different is the traditions of Catholics. Like doing the same thing all the time. I really don't see much difference in the actual religion part.......Does anyone disagree or agree with me?

I was!! And my name is Stephanie too!! And I am on the RCIA team at my church! Coincidence? I think not! I am so excited for you! You know, there are a lot of things that are different theology-wise from Baptist to Catholicism. You may not have gotten into it yet if you are just starting RCIA. Don't be over-whelmed...it is very different then what you are used to. But you will find comfort in the fact that a lot of the "rituals" of Catholicism can be traced back to the early canturies after Christ. Read Justin Martyr's first apology. I describes the ritual of Mass! Also read some Scott Hahn books. "Rome Sweet Home" and "The Lambs Supper" are in my opinion his best. He is a protestant minister who has converted to Cotholicism and will answer a lot of your questions. God be with you!!!
Also be aware that you will be blasted constantly for your choice and you are probably hearing it the loudest from your family. People fear what they do not understand and therefor feel comfortable lashing out...

I don't know why you would switched. I totally disagree! There are many things that the Catholics do which are totally against what the Baptists and what the Bible teaches. Do not pray to Saints, that includes Mary! Do not have idols. Do not change God's word. Do not call anyone Father, but God. There are no mediators for man unto God except Christ Jesus, that means no Priests! Catholics believe that the communion is actually the blood and body of Christ. They believe in purgatory, which is a lie. Catholics pray for dead people. Catholics believe that they can buy their way into Heaven. They baptize babies and believe that if they would die without the baptism, that they would go to hell, when it is clear that they would not and that baptism is a personal decision. The Bible warns about long and reputitious prayers and chanting. They persecuted real Christians in the past and led Holy Wars which dragged true Christianity through the mud. The Bible also warns us about people who abstain from marriage and from the eating of meat because it will give an appearence of Holiness, but deny the Holy Ghost, the power there of. They do not believe that a person has to be born again, while Jesus told us that we have to. The Pope said that if we obey the beattitudes, then we will inherit eternal life, which is a lie. No one can be good enough according to the Bible. It says that if we could, then Jesus died for nothing. Gal. 2.21. I believe that the Book of Revelation is refering to the whore that rode the red beast, is the Catholic Church. I also believe and so does the Catholic Church, that the next Pope will be evil, and maybe the False Prophet for the Anti Christ. Any Baptist Pastor would agree with me. You should have done your homework before you decided to become a Catholic.

I wasn't a baptist; I was a Jehovah's Witness (yeah, the guy who knocked on your door at 8 am on a Saturday morning to sell you a magazine). It was like living in spiritual darkness. My family broke away when I was young (thank God) and for many years tried to heal ourselves from our "religious burns". My final healing came when I joined an RCIA class and coverted to the Catholic faith. I finally found home.

If I understand your question, you are correct (as far as I know) about the basics of the Faith. Both baptists and catholics belief the same things that Jesus is God, that baptism forgives sins, and it is faith in God that saves you.

As far as doing the same things all the time, are you referring to the Mass? Well, at first glance it might look repetitive, but what it actually happening is a very reverent, solemn worship of God. The Mass is not intended for a bible study or classroom. It is our time for worship of the Most High; our highest form of prayer.

Have you studied to Holy Eucharist? The Eucharist is what coverted me.

Anyway, I'm babbling, but if you have any questions, please feel free to write and I'd be glad to help.

Keep the faith, and welcome home.

God bless.

Major differences...Why would you baptise a baby without sin till age of accountability? Why ask forgiveness of anyone but Heavenly Father? My favorite---Christ showed an example of baptism (by submirsion) not done in Catholic religeon

sweetie wake up! converting to a pagan religion is wrong!
catholics do not serve God, they teach that Mary remained a virgin
they teach you to go to confession, Jesus is all you need! A priest
can not forgive you of your sins. You only need to confess your sins to Jesus, be sincere and you will be born again.
Please do some study on the catholic faith.
Read Revelations 17 this might help. please don't do this!
It is truly WRONG!
