I cannot believe some of the answers people give.
Pugs do have a tendancy to over eat but they also do get really obese, this is in their genes and can cause major health issues. Take the dog to the vet and have it dewormed, if the dog is skinny then there is definately an issue to what is causing it, but if the dog looks thin and not ribby is fine. Take your hand to the rib area, feel where the ribs are and if you can barely feel the ribs then that is more than likely the right weight.
You do not want it to be too fat as over weight causes heart problems and etc.
What kind of food are you feeding your pug????????
If you are feeding the cheap grocery store crap even science diet, they are so filled with fillers that they eat get satisfied then are hungry shortly after again. The best dog food to feed is innova, solid gold, wellness, california natural. These are all natural dog foods and they really use fresh ingrediants and not rendered diseased, decayed, dying animals including rotten road kill.
These dog foods may be a bit more expensive but in the long run they eat less as they are filled with ingrediants that are good for your dog.

How old is he? If he is just a pup and in the growing stage then that could be a reason. I have 2 pugs and they eat tons, the 1st 3 years of their lives they did not put on tons of weight but now they are both getting fat (17-20 lbs). As one of my pugs books say "Do pugs eat to live or do they live to eat?"

A pug that eats constantly and doesn't get fat is not a normal pug,as they are naturally stocky.I would take him to the vet and have him checked for diabetes, hyperthyroidism and heartworms(unless he's on preventative)-just have a thorough work-up done. Also, what do you feed him?Is it a good premium dog food or a store brand? That could be the problem as well.Hope all goes well with your doggy.

Dogs can have worms & be fat or thin. It depends on the type worm.
Some dogs will eat til they can't walk.
If your dog is over a year old-feed once daily.
If your dog is old or fixed-this will add on weigh.
My moms Pug is 6 yrs old.....She's rather fat b/c mom just feeds her to much.
If a dog runs & runs-works off the weigh.
If your dogs not gaining weigh & is thin-Have his stools checked by your vet.

If you are worried, you should consult your vet. Worms do not make a dog appear fat until they have grown enough inside to make him "fat". If he is in the beginning stages of worms, then perhaps there is a problem. Also, how old is he? Has he been like this all his life? Is he an active dog? If he burns alot of calories then he probably doesnt. However it would be wise to monitor his eating habits and talk them over with his vet. Good Luck!!!
