I just started exercising. You cannot tell pyshically, but i am very out of shape. The only thing i drink is water (and a lot of it) so it can't be dehydration... a friend suggested lack of iron, could that be it?

Your electrlytes could be low, drink plenty of water yes, but you need salt to keep your electrolytes up.
Plus I used to get headaches after working out, but I found it was because I was drinking A LOT of water, when my body was reacting to lack of caffine and salt. For me a cup of coffee got rid of the headache.
But I'm sure your just low on something like caffine, salt, and /or iron is a possibility.

Are you drinking enough water? I normally drink about 1 and a half litres during an hour down the gym. Dehydration is casue of a lot of headaches.

Eat 1 or 2 hour before exercising (a readily available source of energy eg banana, muesli bar, nuts, fruit) and continue to drink water throughout the day.

Its always a good idea to take a multivitamin tablet when you start exercising - take for 3 months.

Check you are getting a balance of complex carbohydrates (learn about glycemic index) protein, fibre and vitamins. Maintain a small intake of fat, sugar and salt.

More than likely, it is hypoglycemia and dehydration. Drink some juice or electrolyte water (pedialyte, gatorade) while working out. Eat healthy and don't starve yourself. Eat green veggies like broccoli, chard, and spinach (frozen for now, hahaha) if you're concerned about iron intake.
