For those of you who have been to Bangkok, what places are there to visit? I kinda have the shopping places settled, but I'm not sure which other attractions are worth checking out. I need some major help. Any suggestions peeps?

There's a big temple there. Not sure abt the name though. Remember to try the roadside foodstall there. They are delicious and cheap too. Remeber to bring along an atm card that can be used for foreign atm. U may need more cash when u overspend there.. Enjoy ur trip!
Take care!

You'll have a good time, that's for sure. There is really so much to do here. I've been living here for the past four months and have been planning a three-day stay for my parents next week, so I know what you're looking for.
To see the most you may want to consider an organised city tour. That will probably include a trip on the Chao Phraya River - if not that's a MUST for you to do. The Grand Palace and Temples of the Emerald Buddha are also worth seeing too.
If you plan to visit the 'Bridge on the River Kwai' then you'll need to allow one day but I personally think it's a worthwhile experience.
You said you've got shopping sorted - just make sure you include JJ (Chatuchak) Weekend Market. Get there early (9am) because it gets busy and hot by lunchtime. Don't think you'll see it all though - it's massive.
You might also want to consider The Snake Farm, Jim Thompson's House, etc. If you want any more help or advice just let me know.
Good luck !!

Actually there are sooo many things to see and do there but I’d give u some places that I’m quite sure u may like to visit them. The first place I think u should visit that is “the Emerald Buddha Temple” (Wat Phra Keao) which is a popular tourist attraction. If u visit the temple, u’ll also be able to visit the Grand Palace, which is located just next door to the temple.

Well, for the shopping places. I think u should go to “Siam Paragon” it is the biggest shopping mall in thai…lots of brand names are available there, nice restaurants etc. and u probably go to "The Ocean World” check out this site
www.siamoceanworld.co.th

About nightlife..I think u should go to “Kaosarn Road"…many bars, lots of tourists, some good restaurants.
try this link for more information.

Hope my information is useful for u.
Have a good trip in BKK Ciao! :)

I went in '03. The hotels will have daily tours you can take and they are totally worth it. Thailand is hard to get around if you are a foreigner. The tours are packed with information, sightseeing, shopping and eating. The most memorable are the gigantic gold Buddha and the gigantic green jade Buddha. Remember to never say ANYTHING about their king or queen or Buddha. You could be put in jail (or to death) and you know how scary a Thai jail can be.
Also, don't rent a car. They are crazy drivers and if you get into an accident you will always be to blame. Their reasoning is: you're a foreigner and if you weren't in their country, the accident would have never happened. Paid drivers are cheap and they know their way around.
That being said, I had a blast especially at Pataya Beach. And spend all your baht's while you're there - it's nearly worthless at the exchange booth.
Have fun and be safe!!

Take a BKK tour, enjoy the nightlife, and, then, get out of the town. Hit one of the better beach areas in the south &/or take the 55 minute flight to Chiang Mai and visit the hill tribe areas. Bangkok, alone, will give you little idea of what Thailand is like.

In Bangkok : The Grand Palace (the Buddhist temple within which is Wat Phra Kaew), Vimanmek Mansion,The Ananda Samakhom Throne Room, The Marble Temple (Wat Benchamabopitr), The Temple of the Dawn (Wat Arun), The Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho), Suan Pakkad Palace, Wat Srakesa (within the grounds of which is The Golden Mount), Jim Thompson House Museum, Pasteur Institute (Snake Farm), The Lanna House, Dusit Zoo & Gardens, Chatuchak Weekend Market, The National Museum, Bangkok Flower Market.

Outside Bangkok; (1) Nakhon Pathom - The Phra Pathom Chedi and Sanam Chandra Palace; (2) Kanchanaburi - Bridge over the River Kwai and Muang Sing Historical Park; (3) a real floating market such as Amphawa Floating Market.

If you decide to go to Hua-Hin or Cha-Am, on the way, you can stop a while in Petchaburi and check out Phra Ramarajnivet Palace and Phra Nakhom Khiri Palace.

Depends on how much time you have here, and what are your interests. Try one of the local sightseeing tours, best bet to cover much in a short time. Many historical wats/temples to visit. Floating Market and elephant trekking are highly recomended, something different, especially for city folks. Shopping is everywhere! Modern shopping centers to the night markets, genuine branded stuff to the copy ones! Bargaining for them is fun! The local handicrafts are great souveniors to bring home and for friends. Have fun :-)
