Please! Someone help me! I have a lot of Saved files on a LOT of CDS! When I try to erase the files, it says that the file is read only! When I try chnging it, it wont and wont let me erase anything! If any one knows a way that I can erase the files from the cds with software, CAN U PLEASE TELL ME? THANX!!!!!!! (P.S: PLEASE!!!!!!SOMEONE HELP ME)

There are 2 different kinds of cd rewritables out ther. RW let's you erase and reuse and R does not. so RW is re-writable and R is read only...you are stuck....if your file is on a read only you will have to call it up on the harddrive and either write it to another CD or leave it on the computer using a "save as"

The CD has to be a CD-RW (rewritable)
Through your burning application, there is a option to erase.
You haven't specified which program you are using, so I can't be specific to how to go about doing it.
I am using Roxio Creator 8. To erase, click tools > erase disc.

The program that you use to burn also have the option to erase ther rewritables. the cd R are recordale only, no option to erase. But why would you want to erase a cd??? they're so cheap now a days

if it is a R/W CD, then u can erase all the contents or format the CD which will erase all the contents. use Nero to format or erase the CD. but it is R (i.e. Read Only) then you can't help it.

If you're ultimate objective is to get rid of the data on the disc(s) so they can't be accessed again, you could always just physically destroy the discs. (This IS your only option if you are using CD-Rs and not CD-RWs.)
