The computer gets its reading from the coolant temp sensor, located in or near the thermostat housing, not from the gauge.

The fan PCM doesn't get the signal form the temp gauge sensor it gets it's signal from the intake temp sensor so you should be ok. Just in case I'm wrong, don't think I am, check with a Ford technician.

Use a T fitting and leave the factory one operational.
You can put your aftermarket gauge sender anywhere you can access the coolant.

The sending unit has one wire hooked to it around the thermostat housing. The ect sensor has 2 wires hooked to it around the thermostat housing.

i own a repair shop,and you can t use an after market on it and by pass the original one ,it will throw off the pcm on it,and it may run in open loop all the time,and wont run right either,,id leave it alone as long as its working right,,old saying ,,if its not broken,,don't fix it,good luck i hope this help,s.

the data sent to the ecm is from a coolant temperature SENSOR
the signal sent to your gauge is from a temperature sending unit
totally different things
go for it
