I have "fasted" for a week, 3 times. I drank pure fruit juices of all types and plenty of fresh cold water. It does clean toxins from your body. I felt great and also lost 6 lbs. I have just moved to a new state and will start a new job on Monday. After I "settle" in my new job, two or three weeks, and the stress level have subsided, I will "fast" again for a week. Please note, I am in excellent health. I do not recommend "fasting" for anyone that is not in excellent health without prior approval from their family doctor. The results under those conditions could be serious!

I lived on ice chips for 14 days. I had a blocked gall bladder and pancreatitis. I had an NG tube shoved up my nose and down into my belly to drain off the acid. It was hell. I felt like hell. Only God and the surgeons got me through it.
Fasting of that nature can be harmful. Don't attempt it. Try eating fruits and vegetables and drinking lots of water for a couple of weeks. That ought to cleanse you. Avoid medicines and herbal drinks that say they can do this for you too.

Yes I tried it. I went four days without eatting and just drinking liquids. I wanted to cleanse my body free. Next time I will go to a health food store and buy the colon cleansing packet. I have to be real careful being I have Hyperglycemia. I drank water, green tea, cranberry juice, apple cider, Hot Chamosille (sp) calming tea. I was going to drink Aloe vera juice but I did not have any at the time. I really think it is good to cleanse your body. At this time I was sleeping alot to not think of food on the fourth day.

i did it once only because i worked with some-one who was Muslim and they do that at least once a year (i think) i felt very week by the 4th day or so but i managed to go the whole week, you have to be pretty healthy , however i felt great after it was over, you feel really clean inside and out, all we drank was loads of water with lime juice.

You could fast (not eat) but you need to drink. I think about 3 days is all you go live without water. many people have gone without eating for a week but not without drinking

You body "gets" hungry and send signlas to your brain to eat. A few things happenw hen you don't:
1. You burn valuable muscle instead of fat.
2. Your stomach can shrink, and lessen its bile/acid output, making it more difficult to eat whent he time comes.
3. Your body will begin shutting down itself to sustain energy.
You CAN go without eating for that long, but it is meant as an extreme form of survival...not a way to cleanse your body.

It's called a cleanse. I have never done a fast, and I don't think I ever will. It is supposed to be really beneficial, though? There is a juice fast that is supposed to work wonders for cleaning out your system and putting you back on track internally.
Do a Google search for "fast" and "cleanse" to find out some specifics.

well i am no expert but i have to believe that's not the safest way of accomplishing that goal. there are many health food stores that are very much knowledgeable. maybe that's what people should do verses this idea.
