For instance, if your nose is stopped up from allergies; or if you have smelled the fumes for so long that you just dont notice them anymore?

You certainly can get high from fumes, regardless of whether or not you can smell them. Some fumes that people are unable to smell actually kill their sense of smell before killing THEM. Other odorless gases are purely indetectible and kill right away. There are some gases that do not have a direct affect on human beings in a toxic sense, but they can completely replace the oxygen in the air, causing there to be nothing for a person to breathe. Different materials have different properties.

You have killed enough brain cells to make you forget what the fumes smell like. Time for a brain transport

Can't smell carbon monoxide, and it can kill you. Just because you're stuffed up, doesn't mean you won't inhale the fumes through your mouth?

Just because the fumes don't have an odor, doesn't mean it's not affecting you.
