I had radiation therapy to kill my thyroid and am also on thyroid hormone replacement.
No, metabolism boosters will not do you much good.
they stimulate the hypothalmus which in turn stimulate the thyroid.
to produce more hormone.
The only thing you can do is eat smaller portions 4time per day and increase your exercise level.

first you need a specialist in thyroid not just an endocrinologist ....
I went through it gained 100 Lbs on synthetic thyroid lacking the full spectrum of T-2 T-3 T-4 THEN !, I switched to a much keener minded specialist who put me on Armour Thyroid which is desiccated Pig thyroid and full spectrum along with supplemental cortisone because the ablated thyroid is no longer stimulating the adrenal gland . this along with diet and some metabolism boosters I lost 75 Lbs in a few months or so and am still reaching towards my goal another 30lbs to lose. this was all from graves disease wrongly treated in the first place ...older dr 's are sometimes taken in by drug co.'s propaganda for monetary reasons another thing to be aware of is the tendency of many dr. to just go by TSH as accepted general by AMA but this is sometimes misleading and ineffectively wrong the smarter
M.D.'s treat by symptom & the patients feelings from a homeopathic viewpoint they treat the entire person and get proper results! one physician was content to have me unhealthy and obese in his ignorant arrogance and by the book so I can't prove negligence : while the specialist brought my weight down and gave me back my health at least as much as could be redeemed after a forced ablation ......u decide! but get the second opinion please !
