L-16 and l-20 engine parts obsoleted, Nissan 510 interior parts will be non existent rust will plague your every day trying to restore that body work. There are so many cars these days that drive, run better and are safer.

Painting is a labor cost that is usually charged by the hour or per job. Which car you want painted don't really matter. As far as where you live will determine whether it is economical for you to own a car which is more that 25 years old. In the US(A) labor costs are out of the roof. Mechanics can charge somewhere between $30 to $60 per hour, in my opinion if you live in the US don't buy a car that is this old. Also Datsun or Toyota only, no Mitsubishi.

For the most part, they are easier to work on because they have less wires and over enhanced parts. I remember when i was overseas, a lot of the cars and trucks i saw from the pre 80's era were running just as well as the newer models and in some cased better than. Upgrades takes some research but it is very possible. You might have to do slight modifications here and there but nothing that would be too drastic.

I would like to own a fairly stock Datsun 810 (replaced by the Maxima) or a Toyota Cressida, they were fairly powerful cars of the late 70's and they're very reliable cars.

Have you ever seen the anime/movie Initial D. It's about these guys who street race in these 80's and 90's Japanese cars. Well its so popular in Japan that the old cars from the movie are being sought by enthusiests and I even heard a rumor that some of the car companies were going to bring back the old cars!

good luck finding a datsun 510, and from what i've seen older toyotas seem to rust really bad, but all in all they would probably be the same as any other 25 yr old car

why waste your money on an old car with/out all the new features of the 90's or 00's? air bags, abs, fuel injection are (Upgrades) thats why they make newer models. if you have money to paint an old car, you should have money to buy a car that looks good already.
