both really. it just depends on when you say them. A lot of things in the world are creations from teh imaginations of people that just wanted something faster, easier, or nicer. So they just invented them. AT the same time though, you have to wonder where they got the ideas for those faster, easier, and nicer items. The inspiration had to come from something. So, in theory, they are both correct but just depends on when you state them. It seems to be more of a personal preference thing. Somet think that you have to imagine to create while others view it as creating from what is imagined. Its kinda like asking what came first, the chicken or the egg? Dependning on who you ask, you'll get a different answer everytime.

it all depends on whose mind is doing the imagining and whose ears are doing the hearing. some people have the power of imagination others can only dream of, while others let their environment control their way of thinking. Can you imagine someone telling the most unimaginative person in the world, "you gotta imagine whats never been" or someone saying to Thomas Edison : "you've got to hear of these things before you can imagine them" ?.

Honestly... both. Everyone doesn't think the same. Some people are so simple that they cannot conjure up anything in their imagination. Others... well, how do you think anything was made without the second statement?

I think the first one is correct. It's more realistic. It's same as saying that you must experience the same thing before you could understand.
