Isa 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near [me] with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

The bible refers to 3 type of gods.
The only true God (Ps 83:18, John 17:3)
False gods, (Baal, Satan, Zeus)
and "god(s)" such as Moses, human judges, & Jesus (Ex. 7:1; Ps 82:6; Isa 9:6, John 1:1)
These latter gods are not in combination nor competition with Jehovah.
It is even Jehovah that is refering to these ones as gods.
Therefore they are not in defience of the first 3 commandments of the Law.

Even in the Christian religion, God demands that his followers put no other gods before him, so he is acknowledging the existence of other gods. Religion and faith are expressions of man's desire for continuity after death, and how that is achieved is the main discrepancy, not the names or the myths passed down to us. The Bible as well as the Qu'ran and the sutras of Buddhisms are guidelines for people to shape their lives. The Bible is held to be fact, but it is not so, it is man's interpretations of what they think their God required of them. Jesus was a teacher or more correctly a rabbi and gave people examples of acceptable life styles prevalent at the time for them to follow, but so did Siddharta Guatama, and Mohammed. The Cao Dai Church of Vietnam embraces all faiths, each sect wearing different colored robes and some of their saints are men like Victor Hugo and even John Kennedy. Buddhism teaches many of the same concepts as does the Christian faith but we also know that Buddha was not God, only a means to lead us on the path towards enlightenment or purification of the soul. The Taoists believe in the same symmetry of things as does the Christian Church. I was born Christian but converted to Buddhism as the Buddhists believe our souls can be improved through reincarnation whereas the Christian believe in a one shot life...which damns you to eternal hell or if your soul is sufficiently pure, then heaven. It seems that God would be needlessly harsh to allow man to suffer a single lifetime and pay for eternity. However in Buddhism, we pass through a few or many reincarnations as a means of learning and betterment of the soul. Each person needs to feel comfortable in his choice and that choice should be respected as a personal matter and no fault or blame placed on them. You feel your God is superior but this is also associated with the feeling of superiority by the white races. Christianity is in a downslide with the sex scandals of the Catholic Church and the perfidity of other sects, Mormons, and the Southern Baptists that rail against the changes in society, the churches are slipping. Read the questions about the existence of God and the number of Atheists that dispute religion. It signals that people are losing faith and questions such as yours will bring a strong reaction and ridicule.

there are many different levels of the god worlds.. each has a being there that is in charge of that particular plane of existence, there is a cycle and season and plane of existence for every soul.so that each. soul has a chance to experience life with in the god worlds.which includes this physical plane of existence,. and grow and learn and change,so that one day it will become a coworker with god. our father in heaven. if you need an answer to another question look into your heart , and ask and with faith.he will answer in a very quiet voice, do gods will, jesus said doing gods will is the ONLY way to heaven.

Look at our own culture. Why do people worship material success and a Lexus? Why do people bow and wave and pay obscene amounts of money to watch pro sports. They even have animal names for their gods.
People choose gods because of their longing for a god who will bless them w/ fertility - of love and laughter, hope and heaven.

In the Bible, God told us to have no other God before Him. Why would he say that if there were no other gods? If you thing it's about worshiping things, He also said that you shouldn't worship false idol, probably meaning there are true idols to be worshiped.

The idea of many deities originated from human's assuming that multiple and various aspects of nature must rely of many spirits, of various aspects and abilities, to motivate / create them. This led to human applying the same principles to aspects of human nature and conferring sacred qualities, and therefore divine guidance, on them.

Jezz! Did suppy_sup forget his/her meds tonight?! Anyway...
People think there are other gods because there are. What you conceive of in the mind, you can create in reality. We are all the authors of our own reality.
