I'm in the US and have VOIP phone service through Sunrocket. If I take the little black gizmo with me to India and connect it to my relative's cable internet service, will I effectively have a US phone number in India?

yes, I do that...I take it with me to Germany...but your account still have to be in the US...I have several friends from India, and we all do the same thing...unless you have a VoIP provider in India...some ppl, just use a fake US address, and live somewhere else...since you pay with a Credit Card anyway, no one knows but you that you really live in India...just don't change your costumer profile with Sunrocket...
