I have heard that he tried to join the Christians in South Africa, but was told "YOU GO WORSHIP WITH YOUR OWN KIND!" . This bigoted comment, sadly but not surprisingly, turned Ghandi away from Christianity, although he was really impressed by Jesus Christ.
He later tried to bring all religions together, but I don't think he succeeded.

I don't think so but he had a definate appreciation for the teachings of Jesus Christ and he will most likely be resurrected to learn more of the truth as he seemed to be good hearted and well intentioned.

No, he was never a Christian. But he read the Bible and was influenced by Jesus greatly. Read some of his statements about this.

Given that he is quoted as saying, "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ," call me crazy but I don't think he converted!
