What size can or how much water in a water bottle should be used?

Just enough to let your arms know they have something in them, that way it stimulates the muscles, you don't want to bulk up just to tone.

Use one that is big enough to tire you out, but you should still be able to move it smoothly. Instead of using those for weightlifting, you could also try bodyweight exercises like pushups and pull-ups. Go to www.mattfurey.com for some more. This guy got pretty big just using bodyweight and he does some crazy stuff like handstand pushups!
