First of all, you need to give a decent history for anyone to even give an educated guess. How old are you? How much bleeding? Have your periods always been regular? When was your last pap smear and exam? Are your BMs regular, is there pain, bloating, discomfort in the abdomen? Are there clots in the blood? Is it just occasional spotting? Do you have other bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums when you brush your teeth? Other symptoms, tired, abdominal pain, headaches?
I'm a nurse too but honestly we can't diagnose you over the internet. This could be any number of things, some benign such as a mild vaginitis that has irritated the cervix and maybe a hemorrhoid - or other benign condition - all the way to something serious like leukemia, clotting disorder, cervical, uterine or colon cancer. You need to be seen and have some tests and exams done to find out for sure.

Call your doctor, most likely the first thing they'll do is give you a prescription to stop the bleeding. After that they can look at possible causes.
I used to not get a period for 4 months, then have it for 6 weeks straight. Turns out I have PCOS, and it's all much less scary when you actually know what's going on with your body.
Just don't panic...it could be something very simple and easy to take care of, call your doctor (call Planned Parenthood if you can't afford a Dr. they'll work with you on payments).

Damn girl, see a doctor. That much bleeding will make you anemic, and could be a sign of something else--clotting factors gone awry, some sort of female problem. The blood after a BM could just be coming from the vagina, but doesn't matter--GET YOURSELF CHECKED.

Im not either but the same thing happened to me for six weeks. It can be hormones or a tumor nobody can answer this because you need to be examined. But dont worry you wont die at least not from having a period that goes on and on.Now if you were to hemarrage that would be diffrent.I hope you get better.I did.But I had to go see a doctor first.

There are many reasons that this could be. The way to know for sure is to have an examination. It may be something very simple that is nothing to be concerned about. It would definitely be best to see a doctor sooner rather than later though, especially if you have experienced it for a month.

It could mean that you are so low in iron that your body can't stop bleeding. You need to see a doctor because if that is the case one day your just going to faint.
Or a really early miscarriage, but the former one is more likely....

Depends very much on your age. It could be a simple hormonal dis-balance or lack of minerals , or it can be endometrial polyps ( non cancerous usually), fibroid tumors, PID....and so on
I am a former med student and my suggestion would be not to let this one go by...go tomorrow to your doctor and try to figure it out. loosing blood is not exactly healthy..it weakens your body...just for tonight do not panic but look into it you do not want to weaken your body.
Best of luck ,
Alexandra
