Existing slab floor, had carpet and hardwood on it, paint stains and some pocks. Can't find a book or website. Don't want to score it. Just stain it.

http://www.extremehowto.com/xh/article.asp?article_id=60181 may work for you as well. Best of luck. Once I stepped foot inside a store that had the style of flooring you are referring to, I wanted it ASAP!!! It looks GREAT, and it amazingly cheap.
