How long does it take for the prenatal vitamins to take affect?

I'm planning to go purchase some, but if people with experience can fill me in as to what i'm getting myself into, that would be great

its just a multivitamin with extra folic acid....some people see a difference in how fast their hair grows...some do not...but vitamins are good to take anyway because they keep you healthy, which is the reason your hair would grow faster

The hormones of pregnancy have alot to do with hair and nail growth, and the vitamins are formulated to support the growing baby, so they are probably not the best thing to take when not pregnant.
GNC has a supplement called "Nourishair" that makes the hair grow faster, you can read what's in it by googling it. Be warned these pills are HUGE and you have to take 2 a day.
Also ProCaps labs sells a "hair skin and nails" formula that does the same thing, supports hair growth and health, and is smaller and easier to swallow.
If you take only Biotin alone, make sure you take at least 2.5 milligrams or 2500 micrograms [the same thing] a day because thats' a good amount to take. I use the Nourishair supplement from GNC now and my hair is growing faster than it did, but it took about 6 to 8 weeks of daily use to see results

I have 2 children, and have been on prenatals for years. They are great for your hair, if you're not pregnant. I never had wonderful hair pregnant, but I do now! I keep taking them because of how strong they make my nails. My hair doesn't grow any faster, but it is stronger and thicker with them.

Melaleuca has great prenatals. The over the counter ones made my tummy upset. You can order those from their online site. melaleuca.com you can reach me through this site to find them also.

If you have a proper diet to start with, the prenatal vitamins won't make a difference during your pregnancy.

But they can help AFTER the pregnancy (you should take prenatals for a certain period after you finish nursing, if that is what you choose)...because after the pregnancy, your hair may become thinner.
