the plates, the Urim and Thummim, and the breastplate

Moroni took the plates after they were shown to the witnesses.

Martin Harris took the translation home to show his family. No one knows what happened to the pages. Harris became one of the witnesses. All the Three Witnesses broke with Joseph and left the church. None ever recanted their testimony.

A good academic resource from a member is "Rough Stone Rolling".

I just read the book "Under the Banner of Heaven"
It was Joseph's neighbor who spent two years transcribing the plates as Joseph put his head in the magic hat to translate. (that's really not as respectful as I'd like to be, but the best I can do at the moment). I would think that the seer rock and/or spectacles would have been hidden in the box. Maybe with the hat that he had to put his face in?
I think that Moroni took the plates back from Joseph when all was said and done. There was a marker on a trail that said he showed several witnesses (the neighbor/transcriber, his mother, the neighbors wife, etc) the plates there, but then they disappeared supposedly back to Moroni.
I went to Joseph's farm this summer and did a tour and saw where the plates were hidden, etc. Very cool, even for a total non believer. Very creepy, but still very cool
