I'm an African American young lady & date a white guy for about 6 months. When we were together, it was nothing but wonderful.... Unfortunately, he broke up with me (via email) when his parents found out I was African American. In public he was always very affectionate, polite and fun to be with. Once his parents found out (they lived in a different city), he just threw everything away!! The first time he declined a gathering, I knew we had problems. Why couldn't he just be "Man" enough to say, I love her & that's it!!
Why live your life for your parents? They assumed I was living off him, but I have a "very nice" position with a corporation & my own money!! I never asked him for a dime!!!! His parents refused to see me as an individual, some who loved their son...instead, they choose to see me a "Black" person out to get their son. Tell me, why must it be this way? I'm now afraid to open up my heart and allow it to feel. I've moved on, but can't forget this person! Help.

Im sorry that happen and I wonder the same. I have dated white guys( before marrying one) and the same happen with me, when we're together things a were fun and when we were alone it was hot and heavy. But when it came to meeting the parents that was a different thing. I didn't understand it and I still don;t, a friend said it's because the family might have said something regarding not getting money after they die( I know it sounds wierd) but what does she know

I think it all has to do with the fact that they when others find out about thet'e son or daughter is dating outside their race it would damage things( BULL)

I'm married to a whote guy( 11yrs) and from the time I met his family they welcome me with open arms, I have never felt like I was out of place with them and we have a great time when we're together.

I hope someday ur friend will come to realize that he was crazy for allowing his family to end his courtship with you adn that maybe u and he will come together again.

If not sweetie, it's a big world and in this big world there are so many other white guys who would be MORE then happy to be with u and not give a DAMN about who anyone including family have to say.

Good Luck

Don't judge everyone just because you dated a putz. Not all men or even white men will be like that. You just had the misfortune of picking a little boy instead of a man. You knew this but ignored it when he first declined letting you meet his family. I have dated men of all different ethnicity's and i have never had a problem with them or their families. I have been blessed to date men who do not let their parents choose their dates. Get back out there and if someone is ashamed of you dump them and move on.

He sounds like someone you shouldn't have been with anyways. I don't care what a girl's skin color is, if I love her I'll bring her home to the family. If they don't like her then they'll have to deal. But my family is very accepting so it's easy for me to say.

Not all of us are bad guys. The nice ones just come few and far between.

Hmmm...I am a black Canadian female dating a white guy who has proudly introduced me to his family. We all get along great--both of our families. Chalk it up to this, your ex was a coward and afraid to lose his parents' love because he was dating you. Take heart that not all white men are that way.

If any man does this reguardless of race he is not serious about the woman and the heat from his family is not worth the relationship. It is typical sign of a man who is not serious.........kick him to the curb and find a man who can take the heat...........if he really loves u he will.
