Even if that outlet is 120V?

I guess my main problem is since the ballast is 220V would I need to use a voltage adapter to plug it into a 120V outlet?
or would putting on a 220V plug like the hairdryer plug be all I need to do?

If you live in the US or Canada, then it will use a different plug than a standard 3 prong plug that you might see on you vacuum cleaner. A 220 plug is going look like the one on an electric dryer. It will have three prongs, but in this case, two of the prongs will have 110 volt potential relative to ground, and 220 potential between the other hot lead.

NO you won't be able to use an ordinary 120v outlet because YOU BOUGHT A 220v LIGHT! You have to power it from a 220v source (like you have for your electric clothes dryer).
You should definately hire an electrician to help you with installing this light because you have no clue how electricity works.

Technically Should be no problem.. but remember you need to earth it and make sure it is a dedicated from 1 Miniture Circuit Breaker , or in short, no others source of Switch Socket Outlet from the same circuitry you are connected to is not activated.

It will not run in a regular outlet. You need a contractor to install 220volt oulet for you, or wire in the light properly.

The center lead is the ground in a dryer or range plug (US).

Be careful.
