these idiotic collies that live next to me bark all the time and everytime me and my dog pass by they start to bark at him. his fur sticks out on his back and neck but thats all he does. i dont want him to be aggressive i just want him to give them the barking they so deserve and shut up already so i dont have to here them everytime i pass by with my dog. they're barking now! arrg! i'm getting so sick of it! please tell me somethings to get my dog to be more tough!
p.s. he's a black lab and barks aggressivly to strangers and people but never dogs.

At the risk of sounding smart alecky, walk your dog somewhere else. If the owners aren't correcting the collies, it's very unlikely that teaching your dog to bark back is going to correct the problem.
They'll just interpret his barking as aggression, and all you'll have is one more barking dog added to the mix. Your dog's personality is pretty much established by now, I'm sure. Attempting to make him "tougher" is only apt to confuse him or make him act aggressive in inappropriate situations, too. He sounds like a sweet, non-aggressive animal. . .if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I think the only solution is to either talk to the collies' owner (don't be surprised if they're indifferent) or take my first suggestion and walk your dog somewhere that he doesn't have to deal with the collies.

Have you spoken with the pets owners? I would maybe try walking another way if the owners won't do anything about the barkers. Or carry a handfull of dog food and toss it to the barkers when you go by so they are too busy eating and cannot bark.

I don't think there's really anything you can do to make him bark back, unless you've taught him the command 'speak'. As far as the other dogs barking at him.... that's something their owner is gonna have to stop.

You should be happy he doesn't bark at other dogs. I don't think it would make things better if he did. Maybe you could take a squirt gun as you walk past the barkers and squirt them when they bark.

You really don't want him to bark back at those dogs---that will only result in more noise, and they will bark louder. Be happy that he does NOT react to them, and just keep walking. Maybe one day they'll get bored and give it up.

they are talking to each other. just tellyou dog he or she is good. the other dogs are just letting you dog know you are in there area. dogs have their own areas. like people have properties
