Absolutely not, the Authors of books do not usually illustrate the cover, or even choose the person who is to do it. That task is from the publisher.

Well ppl say you shuldn't. But most of the time w/e you are on the inside comes out on the outside. The only time I've found this not to be true was with my best friend. Cuz I judged her as a preppy nose in the air kind of person who had alot of issues. And that isn't true at all. As I got to kno her she's actu7ally a really sweet person who isn't preppy at all. SO I always take the safe road and atleast reqad the summary, you never know you may miss out on a great book.

I think so too. If a publisher spends a lot of time on the cover of a book, it's a good thing. I like books with pretty covers and the stories are usually fun and happy.

Yes, if the cover is awlful you woud never pick it up. My caveat is that if it is a copy of a really great book like Moby Dick or Crime and Punishment you should read it despite the cover.
My rule of thumb is to read the first paragraph and a paragraph in the middle. If that seams interesting, ignore the cover.

I don't think you're talking about books. I think you're talking about people. Yes, if someone looks "crappy" to you on the outside, it's fair to conclude that you may not have anything in common with them and should move on.
