Most of the time that Paul ended up in prison, it was for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because back in the days of Paul, there were various nations and places where he went, that preaching the gospel of Christ was not allowed. For the Romans controlled much of the known world back in those days. (Acts 16:23-40)

Probably because he was power hungry. He took a good mans, Jesus, life and perverted it for his own agenda. It is mainly his writings that make the bible fiction.
