THE BOOK OF REVELATION
CHAPTER 17
Rev 17:1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
Rev 17:2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
The great whore is a woman, which is a city that is built upon seven mountains.
Rev 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
Rev 17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
Rev 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
Rev 17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
She is drunk with the blood of the saints. Her colors are purple and scarlet and her symbol is a golden cup. There is no doubt about the identification of the woman, the great whore, and her primary purpose, which is to take over the whole world.
Rev 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Rev 17:6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
Rev 17:7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
The beast is a dragon and is similar to the woman. He is a red dragon with seven heads, ten horns and seven crowns.
Rev 12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
Rev 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
The beast is manifested as a man. He was a man living on the earth at one time. He is not living on earth today. He will ascend out of the bottomless pit and will have a second coming just like the Lord Jesus Christ. There is only one man in scripture that does not go to heaven or hell but goes to his own place and that is the bottomless pit. Jesus calls him the son of perdition and Paul calls him the man of sin. He is Judas Iscariot.
John 6:70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
Acts 1:25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.
2 Thess 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Rev 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
What city do we know today that sits on seven mountains? If we know the answer to this then the identification of the city is clear.
Rev 17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
Rev 17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
These are the seven Kings:
1. Nimrod, King of Babel
2. Pharaoh, King of Egypt
3. Sennacherib, King of Assyria.
4. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon
5. Cyrus, King of Persia.
6. Alexander The Great, King of Greece.
7. Caesar, King of Rome.
These are the five fallen Kings:
1. Nimrod, King of Babel.
2. Pharaoh, King of Egypt.
3. Sennacherib, King of Assyria.
4. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon.
5. Cyrus, King of Persia
The one that is Caesar, King of Rome, and the other one is not yet come and continues a short space. A Caesar was in power when John was on the earth and there shall be another king appear. The beast was the eighth king that appeared and was on of the seven heads of Satan
Rev 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
These ten horns represent ten kings, which are found in Daniel Chapter 2. These are Satan's angels. The last empire on earth, when Jesus comes, will be a ten-king kingdom. They do not have to have the title of king, but they receive power as kings from Satan. This also tells us about the United States. During the tribulation period, The United States will be part of one of those kingdoms.
Dan 2:43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
Rev 17:13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
Rev 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
During the last three and half years of the tribulation the Devil will be cast down on the earth and will take over the earth. He will have his angels in charge of these ten kingdoms and they will help him take over. They will make war against Jesus at His second coming and He will overcome them.
Rev 17:15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
We are told that the waters that John sees are a multitude of people of all nations and that is where the whore is sitting. Every time water is seen in the scripture it does not mean it is people but only when we are told it represents people. In all other cases, it means waters.
Rev 17:16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
The Devil will get complete control of the earth. He will even turn against Rome and destroy her.
Rev 17:17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
Rev 17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
Cities are likened to women. Remember the Lord has a city so Satan also has a city.
Rev 21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
Satan city is Rome. When the Lord Jesus Christ come back to earth and fights the battle of Armageddon, He will taken Satan and put him in the bottomless pit. The antichrist and false prophet will be cast into the lake of fire and He will destroy Rome and the ten-king federation.
