like $2000, aftermarket intakes suck, get a turbo

Your friend's 300zx is probably a twin turbo model, which will have two intakes... one for each turbo.

This may be a dumb question, but why don't you just ask your friend how much he pays for insurance?

aftermarket intake MAY help the engine.every factory always claim their products work the best just like those tv infomercial.the only way to prove it is to have an engineer to test it .sometime the computer test result show the product work ,but you CANNOT feel the different once you sit in the car. can not amswer your insurance rate but you can try mine insurance. Insurance, go to progressive.com and you can get a free quote, intakes are good if you have a turbo with it, but if you get a turbo you might want to consider an engine rebuild.

First the insurance is charged by age and driving record and second since the car is old the cheaper price would be OK cause it's out of warranty.. add a turbo...
