If you look into the origins of Halloween its not christian and isnt something christians should really be celebrating so I think your pastors on the right track. It's his job to teach his people and if this is his conviction he's doing the right thing.

Your pastor's request is just that: a request. You may follow his suggestions or not, based on what you feel the Holy Spirit telling you to do. As a pastor, he does not hold the same authority over the flock as a Catholic Bishop does. If he tries to exercise such authority, then he may as well put on a Catholic Miter and play the part the rest of the way!
The observance of "Halloween", properly called the "Eve of All Saints Day" or "All Hallow's Eve", is in the Christian calendar. It is no coincidence that it falls on the same day as Samhain! This is another opportunity for Christians to reach out to their (perhaps) Pagan neighbors through a celebration. Let the Holy Spirit be your guide.

I think it is a matter of how you feel about it.
I do want to mention that Halloween and Samhain are not the same thing. Samhain falls on November 7th this year. Neither are Satan's holiday.
I am a bit concerned about the pastor dictating to the congregation. Some churches ask that families do not trick ot treat but they offer alternatives such as a harvest party, (still Pagan in origin if you ask me) or trunk or treat, the parishioners park their cars and the children socialize and collect their goodies.
Do what feels right to you.
Blessings )O(

Listen or go.....it is the spirit of the thing. I take my children to supervised church events. The ride horses, hay rides, and play games. What if we did that on Oct12? March 8? The preacher is wrong...don't freak your kids out by saying socializing on a certain day is wrong. They won't understand it, just as you don't now.
Celebrating the devil, by the way, is wrong. Not just on Halloween. I say change pastors. Find one struggling with Gen3:16. After all, child birth is still painful.....

Oh my. Here we go again. The same old Christian propaganda about how Halloween is some kind of satanic celebration. Bogus!
Have you ever wondered why Halloween is not celebrated anywhere else in the world besides North America? Could it be that it was originally a harvest festival having nothing to do with satan?
Do some research on the subject and you will discover that the pilgrim settlers, Christians, were the first to do things like carve pumpkins. So my answer to you? Go. Enjoy yourself. This has zero to do with satan.

Does celebrating halloween bring honor and glory to the Lord ? A true Christian does not ask whether or not to disobey their Pastor ! ....Exodus 20 : 4....Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image , or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above , or that is in the earth beneath , or that is in the water under the earth .. ...........If your Pastor asked you to not celebrate Christmas , would you seek advice on whether or not to obey him ? If a church is celebrating halloween , you need to be as far away from that church as you can get ..

As it started as a Pagan holiday celebrating the end of the harvest. you can go or not as you choose.the word Pagan means someone who lives to far away from a city to attend the towns church services and started worshiping those things that most affected there lives.Earth ,Sun,water, air, and spirit
It is also the day that the veil between the words is supposed to be the thinnest and is therefore one of the better times for doing things like contacting those that have crossed over already.
unless i have my holy days mixed up it is also called All Hallows eve for Christians.
so use the free will that God gave to you and decide on your own our let your Pastor dig his way of thinking deeper into your mind.

Most organised religion is legislation against fun, this is a simple truth. However, for millenia the human spirit has prevailed and when religious authority is absent or fast asleep the flock will make merry. For example when Moses went to recieve the Torah the people pleaded with Aaron, who was much more fun, to provide them with an excuse for merry-making. The fiesta arounded the golden calf was the most fun they had had in nearly forty years. So you can guess that it was a great couple of weeks in the desert. In fact the party was so much fun that when Moses eventually came down he was persuaded to break everyone of the commandments, literally.

Personally, I do not celebrate Halloween or any "alternative" which usually just tends to be Halloween dressed up.
But, no one can tell you whether or not to celebrate it- not celebrating for me does not come from a pastor telling me not to- it comes of personal revelation regarding the holiday, personal discernment coming from my relationship with the Lord and a personal desire not to celebrate in order to glorify the Lord.
If it is not a personal conviction for you it will only be a chore for you not to celebrate and oyu will resent it.
I don't think that it is edifying or good for a Christian to celebrate halloween but I would tell someone why and let them make their own decision-it is between you and God and there is no call to judge a Christian who still celebrates it- if you do choose to celebrate it- in effort to protect oyur witness to others, I would be very careful and discerning about HOW you celebrate it.

It's your decision, not the pastor's. Go and have fun. Halloween only comes once a year.

Typical. Just go. It's not "Satan's" holiday anyway, it's an old pagan holiday---just like Christmas and Easter are old pagan holidays! The only difference is that the church couldn't think of anything to replace Halloween with like they did Christmas and Easter.
Somehow I doubt you'll be out on Halloween worshipping the moon and conjuring the dead anyway, so what difference does it make?
