They're rrreeeeaaallllllly bad for you. That long answer about trans fats is right on. Also they are carbs. Between the carbohydrates and the grease they are nothing but little fat bullets headed straight for your butt and arteries. I used to eat them a lot but now I have some maybe twice a week. Try to find something healthier that will satisfy your hunger.

Tia u r in an age group where ur body can get away with a lot of abuse. But some things are cumulative, one of them being ACRYLAMIDE, a known carcinogen present in fried carbs. Potatoes are carbs frying em creates acrylamide. That, besides the possibility of gaining a lot of weight. 16 would be a good time to start taking care of your body.

French Fries are really good! Believe me they're awesome, but they're bad if you buy them in any fast food or in any restaurant, grocery etc. that sells it.

You might ask yourself? Why is it bad? and why is it bad to buy them at particular places? But the reason is the Trans Fat.

Trans Fat is a fat that contains many, many bad things that for your body is really bad, and really bad for your health; they are made in the process of hydrogenation, between oils to become the fat into solid instead of liquid. Although there are trans fatty foods that contains it in liquid, for instance: Margarine and Butter.

When restaurants made the french fries, they use the cheapest oil for fry them... ( Because they're a business, and they don't want to waste their money in a good oil to fry them, that's why they use the cheapest one) This cheap oil contains many bad nutrients (Including Trans Fatty Acids) that when they fry the french fries, the process of frying makes them to jump the label of the trans fat up to 5-10 grams per serving.

In this case it will be very, very bad if you consume french fries, buying them in fast food places or restaurants... The trans fat is the worst fat of all (By Nutritionists) because they make you to become fat rapidly, and they increase in level of LDL Cholesterol or '' Bad Cholesterol '' In which you might end up having a heart disease... So it's very important, to look at the labels of nutrition facts in the foods that we eat, and become familiar with it.

There's NO problem if you eat 2 or 4 small servings of french fries per week, that will not give you ANY problem if you eat them once in a while...
But here is an idea to make them a little bit healthier:
- Make them homemade.
- Use Canola or Olive Oil, which has 0 grams of Trans Fat, and they are the best oils to cook.
- Buy the french fries frozen, at look at the labels of nutrition facts in the bag, and see the Total Fat, Saturated and Trans Fat info. Between less fat, the best for you.
- Fry them at home, and you can have a healthy snack, without trans fat, and bad nutrients; only a little bit of fat and saturated and some high carbohydrates... but eat them once in a while and you'll see that there's no problem with it at all. Enjoy them and be happy! But remember eat them once in a while...

Regards

They are not going to hurt you as long as you don't as you say, "eat them everyday".
But they are not listed as "health food" In fact they will taste better and be more satisfying if you only eat them occasionally.
