12 rounds in a championship fight. matches were too long and boxers were taking too much of a beating over long periods of time. so they shortned the length of championship rounds and the number of fights a boxer can have in a year. non-championsip fights are usually 10-rounds by the way.

They use to go at till somebody knocked somebody out. Then it went to 15 rounds. Now 12 rounds -your done.

im thinking it was 15 then the lowered it to 12
