Back then Mexico was ruled by either Spain or France. It really was not Mexico as it is today. They still have the Euro trash running the country though....or did you think Fox was a hispanic surname? hehe

Mexico was also a spanish territory. Some think it should become a US territory...I think Mexico should stand up and fix its' own problems and take care of its' own people. Plus, Mexico now has a 1 trillion dollar annual GDP, thereabouts, so they've got plenty of money to do just that, but for various reasons they're giving us the 'wounded bird' to get more money out of us.
Don't fall for the hyperbole, the only reason kids go hungry or whatever in Mexico is because that's what the politicians think should happen. They've got the dough, but greed always wants more...

Igor you have to be Mexican and ignorant, where do you get your information from, I hope not Mexico because, boy you are wrong, wrong . Mexico right now is very rich but the government is very corrupt and they don't care about their people. I don't know how the people of Mexico here in the USA or in Mexico could be talking about "Mexico lindo" when the Mexican people that are coming through the border are dying or going hungry, or dying of sickness and the Mexican government do nothing about it. How is it that you come to America to march and demand from us the Americans, call us all kind of names and you don't say nothing or do nothing about the Mexican government that is to blame for your problems and the reason why you have to come to "Gringo Country". Don't you people fill ashamed I think you should.

Mexico was a colony of Spain, their wealth such as it was was taken to Spain. There was no time when Mexico was an independent country that it was wealthier than the US.
They may be our neighbors, but they are not are partner and definitely not our cousins so please stop with the understanding crap and secure the borders.

That's because it was not Mexico, it was Spain, and the USA wasn't around until the late 18th century.
Spain controlled mexico until the 19th century, and southwest USA for over 350 years.
Mexico controlled the southwest (Cali, AZ, etc...) for less than 35 years.
I'm Spanish, I know my history, unlike yourself.

All the Mexicans have to do is enter our wonderful nation legally and speak English. Why is that so hard to understand? If Mexico is so great ,why do all the citizens want leave. Please come to America legally and be a good and proud American citizen.

people have already beat me to it, but yes, Spain of the 15-1700s= quite wealthy; Mexico of the same period= colony of Spain. Mexico of today= corrupt govt that wants their rich cousin the US to solve their unemployment and poverty by handing out jobs to people who want to remain Mexicans living on American soil.
