Your body doesn't feel any way at all when you die. Your spirit leaves your body and moves on to the next place, wherever you believe that may be.

What happens is largely a function of your state of mind at the time you die. While some people report experiencing nothing in near death experiences, others have reported having out of the body experiences and even felt they were draw to a bright light or something leading beyond this life.
No one yet can prove this,so it is a matter of faith. That gets back to state of mind. Life is not necessarily fair:neither is death. Traumatic death or dying confused or in distress might make the transition confusing enough to lead a disembodied spirit to not transcend, some psychics claim. However, if your belief is strong enough, it is plausible your last moments will be a perception of transcendence to a "better" plane of existence. Is this real...
there is no proof or guarantee. Live a good life. Be kind. Have faith in a greater existence than living here as a human being. The rest will take care of itself.

my dad died once before he kicked for good, and he said he didnt know a thing. Was watching TV one minute the next he was in the hospital in intensive care. His heart had stopped for over 5 minutes, but he suffered no memory loss or other functional loss.

I have heart failure - hopefully I got another 4-5 years to live but the biggest thing I always wonder is will I know when it is happening. If I feel a chest pain or feel faint, will I know this is it, the big one, signing off?

We all go sometime, and there arent any complaints from the dead so it must not be too bad :)

People who were clinically dead and who came back to life all say the same thing : it is very peaceful, they feel a lot of compassion and generally a great light. Death is a nice feeling actually and must not be feared. Of course life is not bad either but as we must die one day, we must not be afraid of this fleeting moment.
