When my daughter got her license a month ago, our insurance provider told us the best way to do her insurance was to add her car to our policy and then buy her a separate policy without a car listed. Same coverage for both her and the car but not as expensive.

If he drives he certainly does. If he gets into an accident, and you don't have him listed as a driver, your insurance company can refuse to pay any claims. It would come straight out of your pocket.

You are, in essence, defrauding your insurance company by not telling them that your child also drives your car.

Yea in New Mexico if your driving a car you should be insured not just the car so if your kids runnin around in your car it would prolly be in your best intrest to isure both you KID and the CAR. If you want more money off your insurance get on your kids **** about getting good grades and you can get a discount. If they Don't, well than you kinda screwed.. or you can Ground them that works kinda well lol

Yes, especially if they are driving your vehicles. They'll have to have insurance in most states just to get a driver's license.

No, even if she/he has a learners permit you do not need to list them until they have their license -

I have 18 y/o son who just got his license and did not have to be listed on the policy - This is in Washington.

Check with your insurance to be certain - each make their own policies.

unless they are above the age of 25 (here in canada) they don't need to be listed. Otherwise, you have to list that child if there is even the slightest chance that they'll be driving.
